emergency help line and chat We also have real-time assistance enabled by AI Oluwaseyi Ola explained If human assistance is needed we are going to have contributors who are crisis-trained that will connect directly with people There will be urgency protocol information for people who need urgency assistance so they can call and supply real-time location And for users interested in longer-term mental physical condition assistance Calming Path will also include a directory of mental soundness therapists that take a culturally competent approach to their work Oluwaseyi Ola The hope is that the app will provide a supportive virtual population for users linked to support and human connections that have a deep understanding of the unique requirements of African immigrants and refugees Oluwaseyi Ola commented that a long-term goal is to provide access to community-based peer-support specialists armed with personal experience and knowledge of mental medical struggles The major part of this is we need a grid of peer encouragement for people he commented We would like to build neighborhood forums with moderated discussions where young people could connect with each other for mentorship and peer backing This next step is still a vision he announced but once the app is published for constituents use he plans to add that and more features as requested by users Calming Path is now in beta testing with a group of selected contributors and Oluwaseyi Ola revealed the app is slated to be available to the general masses this July His research tells him that Calming Path is unique If anything like this exists it is not getting marketed enough he explained The apps that are out there for mental soundness are generic I ve done research and the kind of apps that exist are not culturally infused Calming Path is one of a kind We hope it is just what our area demands Ola mentioned that Restoration for All is fundraising to meet a goal of to continue Calming Path s growth On July the app s launch will be celebrated at the th-annual African Mental Strength Summit held at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Park The post New app offers virtual advocacy for young African immigrants and refugees appeared first on MinnPost
